Narrations are sayings of the Prophets and Imams and their actions. The Arabic term for narrations is “hadith” and means “a piece of information.” The plural is “ahadith.” These narrations were gathered many years after the Prophet and became important tools for understanding the Qu’ran. Both Shi’a and Sunni’s have different collections of hadith. There is a science that scholars have developed to check that narrations are correct, factual and not ascribed.
