The word “Allah” in Arabic translates simply in English to “the God.” While there are ongoing theological debates as to whether “God,” referred to in the Bible, and “Allah,” referred to in the Qu’ran, are indeed the same being, it is suffice to say that Christianity and Islam are monotheistic religions, which means they both believe in one divine creator. The divine creator is referred to as God or Allah, depending on whether one identifies with Christianity or Islam. The word Allah is used in an equivalent term in other faiths, though the word God can be made plural and can be made male or female but the word Allah cannot.
